STUMPED FOR IDEAS - 100 word story

The photo prompt for this week got me wondering how I was going find a fresh theme about a cut down tree. Frankly, I was stumped. And that gave me an idea.

STUMPED FOR IDEAS!

“I'm stumped for ideas.” Hairy John's rucked up t-shirt revealed a milk-white paunch.
“Let's hitch-hike down to Spain again,” said Titch.
“No way. Remember those Spanish lorry drivers yelling 'cut your hair, Hippies!’?”
“That was years ago,” said Titch. “Remember the gorgeous chick with doe-eyes. I wonder what she looks like now.”
“Fat.”
“Let's find out.”
“Why?”
“Why not?”
Hairy John frowned. “Got me stumped.”
“Come on, man.”
“Okay, we'll go.” Hairy John stood up and hitched his jeans over his bum-crack. “But I'm warning you. She'll be fat now.”

I hope you enjoyed my story and I look forward to reading your comments.

  3. Yeah, she'll be fat. If they can even find this woman, I wonder what she'll think of the way Hairy John looks, years later?

    2. Not to mention his bum-crack.

I just realized something strange. Being from the USA, when I read "Let's hitch-hike down to Spain again," I was actually thinking "Mexico."

    3. Well, having been to Mexico I can see some similarities to Spain!

  4. Dear Susan,

Oh my the image of Hairy John hitching his jeans over his bum crack tells me that he's no prize after all these years. You made me laugh.

    Shalom,

    1. That's what I love about this weekly challenge, Rochelle: how to paint as vivid a picture as possible in just 100 words. Hairy John's bum-crack seems to have done the trick! :)

  10. Spain does sound enticing at this time of year! I wonder what the chaps will find on their return? Maybe they produced some hairy hippies of their own they never knew about? Nice tale Susan

  27. Ha... so many men has difficulties in understanding that they age too (including myself)... Maybe they should try something different than hiking though, I imagine they wouldn't be able to waddle very far.

    1. I think women suffer from these delusions too. My characters will probably have to drive instead of relying on hitch-hiking!

  28. Ha! These two obviously don't look in the mirror often (or if they do, they must be seeing something completely different from what others see).
