ON THE ROAD SURPRISES - Part 5 - The Maldives

I knew that my recent trip to the Maldives would offer a wealth of fabulous diving – and it didn’t disappoint. I haven’t sorted out the underwater photos yet, so here are a few above water surprises.

We were treated to sightings of pods of spinner dolphins on several occasions.

This 'vessel', complete with house plants intrigued me greatly.

Finally, is this the smallest island in the Maldives??

HAPPY EASTER!

P.S. I'm now gearing up to do the April A-Z blogging challenge. My theme is Wild Animals that I have specifically seen in the wild (no zoos or animal parks!!) Can you guess which animal will be my first featured under 'A'?

  1. ANT? There must be thousands of species you've seen on your exotic travels - will humans be your choice for H? :)

    1. Ha ha - now there's a bit of food for thought, Lizy. (Although I wouldn't strictly categorise ants as animals.)

  2. I had just been mentioning to my husband that I would love to go to the Maldives. As to A how about anteater. :)

    1. I've been to the Maldives several times, Sue - the islands are beautiful and the diving is world class.
Anteater? Maybe, maybe not... you'll have to look in on April 1st to see if you're right! :)

  3. The vessel looked the front porch of a house. It doesn't look very stable at all. As for the small island, did you ever find out what it was? I bet seeing the dolphins was a nice treat. I reckon... alpaca or aardvark.

    1. Eve, I was too distant from the vessel to see it properly, it certainly does look like part of a house doesn't it? The dolphins were wonderful - spinners are brilliant at leaping - but it's impossible to anticipate a jump so sadly couldn't capture one with the camera.
      Loving these animal guesses! :)

  4. Friends were there last year and really loved it. Alligator maybe :) :)

    1. There's something very special about the Maldives, Jo... all those glorious little islands rimmed with pure white sand, nestled in turquoise seas.
      Alligator? Maybe, maybe not! :)

  6. Dolphins and blue sea - what a lovely surprise! I have seen dolphins in British waters but the sea is nearly always cold and grey here.
Good luck with your April challenge. If you're working your way through the dictionary as well as the alphabet, you should be starting with aardvark. Have you ever seen one?
I'm taking the NaPoWriMo April challenge to write a poem a day, but not very confident of being able to do it!

  7. Thanks, Linda. I'll be working through the alphabet - one letter a day. I've seen quite a few wild creatures beginning with A, including an aardvark. But my choices will also be based on animals I've photographed to make each blog post more attractive!
Good luck with your poetry challenge. (Can you not prepare poems in advance, as I am doing as much as possible with my A-Z challenge?)

  9. Aardvarks! (Too jealous of the Maldives trip to comment on that)

  10. Patsy, what can I say? You'll have to look in on the 1st to see if you're right about Aardvarks. :)
