THE MEETING
Kate looked around in
astonishment. Seriously? Checked her GPS. Nope, these were definitely
the right co-ordinates.
Bent almost double, she picked her way between the rocks in her inappropriate heels looking for
a way to cross the water. Kate was not
about to ruin her shoes.
Downstream from the
bridge she spotted stepping stones.
Gingerly, she crossed and
made her way back under the bridge.
Exasperated she considered her options. She could almost see the funny side. Almost.
But when Kate had told him
to surprise her with an unusual date, this was not what she had had in
mind.
I hope you enjoyed this story and I look forward to your comments.

I don't see a good future for this relationship
ReplyDeleteYou might be right - it depends on what happens when he arrives!
DeleteI don't think they are on the same wavelength when it comes to unusual dates!
ReplyDeleteNo! Or maybe she'll get used to his teasing ways. :)
DeleteI get the feeling he is going to be in big trouble over this date!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to take some fast talking when he arrives!
DeleteIt might be me, but I sense something sinister in this 'unusual date'. Good one.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it as sinister - just a weird sense of humour. But you might be right. :)
DeleteHmm, a slight warning ("don't dress up!") might have been in order ;)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Yes!
DeleteHe's taken this a bit too literally. But give him a chance. He could still be a keeper :) Jilly, Sugar on the Bee
ReplyDeleteOnly time will tell, Jilly. :)
DeleteUhm... RUN!! Run in the other direction!! Great visual but scary!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I wasn't intending this to be interpreted as a scary story. :)
DeleteWell, as someone who used to spend their spare time searching for geocaching locations with a GPS, I love the idea of using one for a date.
ReplyDeleteBy doing so, he managed to intrigue her, but she was expecting a very different scenario. :)
DeleteDear Susan,
ReplyDeleteThere's unusual and then there's unusual. Something tells me he has some 'splaining to do. Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Definitely got some fast talking to do when he turns up.
DeleteOhhhhh, yeah. I have to agree with everyone above who says this is a bit creepy. You, however, don't seem to think so, and you wrote it. I also have to wonder if this is their very first date (somehow I doubt it) or if they've been together a while and she was sick of whatever the same old routine was. Very intriguing!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about FF and the comments - I'm always surprised by the different interpretations of my words. :)
DeleteThis is really intriguing. Let's hope he's got something good up his sleeve.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think he's teasing her. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteBeware of a date like that, Kate... he is right behind you now and raises the shovel... Kate beware.
ReplyDeleteHa ha - no, I don't believe she's in physical danger - just in danger of losing her sense of humour. :)
Deletei wonder if the gps needs to be updated. otherwise, it looks like some kind of sick joke. :)
ReplyDeleteI think he's played a joke on her - it just depends whether she finds it funny or not. :)
DeleteSome surprise indeed. Where is this person trying to take Kate?
ReplyDeleteYes, not a surprise she was hoping for. But maybe he will vindicate himself with a ticket to take her to Paris.
DeleteHaving set him that challenge, wearing heels wasn't wise! Fun story :)
ReplyDeleteNot wise - but she clearly wasn't expecting the date to be this unusual!
DeleteOh, Kate... dinner and a movie next time!
ReplyDeleteHe he - yes, asking for an 'unusual' date has backfired, hasn't it?
DeleteI'd like to think he suddenly appeared on a beautiful boat and plucked her aboard! Probably didn't though.
ReplyDeleteAh, you old romantic, you. :)
DeleteMaybe not what she expected but at least there was little chance of them being disturbed. If she would be comfortable with that of course
ReplyDeleteHe he - that's one way of looking at it, Michael. :)
DeleteI hope he has something extraordinary in mind to make up for how the date began! =)
ReplyDeleteWho knows? I might have to write a sequel, Brenda. :)
DeleteNothing wrong with unusual... however, maybe a heads-up in how to dress would have been appropriate!
ReplyDeleteHe he - yes, he probably should have given her a little warning.
DeleteGreat sense of the being alongside the woman - could imagine her frown as she tried not to ruin her shoes ! Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback - appreciate it. :)
DeleteThis takes me back to my dating years. I always appreciated extra effort, but yes, a heads up is nice. I'm putting in effort too.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I hope you didn't end up under a bridge! :)
DeleteHmm, I think I would be looking for my car and getting out of there. No need to explain anything. Nicely told.
ReplyDeleteThat might be a sensible option. Thanks for commenting, Jo.
DeleteShe has an enviable sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps that's why he felt safe to play this joke on her. Thanks for commenting, Dahlia.
DeleteHe's not betting another date, is he?
ReplyDeleteWho knows? Maybe he's just a risk taker?
DeleteThat doesn't sound like a date I would have enjoyed, but it sure makes a great story.
ReplyDeleteI can't think it would be any woman's idea of an enjoyable date, Linda. Thanks for commenting - glad you enjoyed reading it.
DeleteI can't see him getting a second date. Although I have to admit that I consider heels to be inappropriate for most tasks - such as walking normally for any length of time for instance. But maybe that's just me!
ReplyDeleteHa ha - no I gave up my heels as soon as I gave up working in offices! :)
DeleteCan't see this ending well. Great write.
ReplyDeleteA happy outcome - or not - lies with him. Thanks for commenting, Lisa. :)
DeleteHope she let someone know where she was going...
ReplyDeleteShe's a sensible person - but I don't think she's in any danger. Thanks for commenting.
Deleteit always happens that way, the expectations let us down
ReplyDeleteI suppose it is sometimes true that high expectations can be open to big let downs. Thanks for commenting.
ReplyDeleteHaha I can relate. Whenever I surprise my girlfriend with dates I never take the shoes she's wearing into account. I've led her on many long walks while she was in heels. Unfortunately, for guys its just something we don't think about.
ReplyDeleteActually, I understand that this happens - sometimes even a walk across a gravel car park can cause issues and I've had my male companion wondering why I'm tottering and grumbling! Thanks for commenting.
DeleteI say, 'Run, Kate!'. I wouldn't trust anyone who arranged to meet me in a place such as that.
ReplyDeleteAnd next time, wear trainers!!
He he - if there is a next time! Thanks for commenting, Helen.
