Modern Magic
Batty Patty had a problem.
Via the modern magic of the internet
she was in contact with other 'believers' the world over.
Her popularity stemmed from the fact
that she lived in Ireland and could reassure folk of her sincerity
and knowledge of the Little People and their wonderful remedies.
Sure, who wouldn't believe an Irish
lass?
But now these folk wanted the magic
remedies for themselves, and whilst Patty was only too willing to
share, she wasn't quite sure how to.
And then one day, via the modern magic
of the internet, she learnt about online shopping.
Problem solved.
Hope you enjoyed this story and I look forward to your comments.

Dear Susan,
ReplyDeleteSure and these modern times can simplify things. I believe Batty Patty, the Irish lass. I'm loving your characters.
Shalom,
Rochelle
In today's climate, I'm very grateful for the internet! Glad to hear that you're enjoying my characters, Rochelle.
Deleteeye of newt and toe of frog
ReplyDeleteHe he - wouldn't you love to know what's in that box, Neil?
DeleteBatty Patty is a keeper...
ReplyDeleteShe'll make a killing.
Thanks, Tannille. I'm sure she'll feature in future stories. :)
DeleteBatty Patty :). What a great start for a most entertaining story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. This is Batty Patty's second outing and probably not her last. :)
DeleteBatty Patty will experience magical e-shopping & minting dollars :)
ReplyDeleteTech has made life so easy!
Yes, I think she's going to enjoy the technology even if her heart is entrenched in the faerie world. :)
DeleteGlobalisation does open up a lot of new markets for everyone with something to sell!
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed! Thanks for commenting, Iain.
DeleteHa ha! A mixture of folklore and technology opens up a whole new realm of storytelling.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be done, Helen, it has to be done. :)
DeleteHer name 'Batty Patty' reminded me of the way Dickens conjured up the l of the character via their name. Fun short story
ReplyDeleteIt's all in the name. Although, in this case, it's a nickname coined by others, not Patty. :)
DeleteI'll take one 4-leaf clover and a bottle of snake repellent oil please (plus shipping and handling of course.) Good story, Susan!
ReplyDeleteI'll pass the order on to Patty, but snake oil might be a problem as there aren't any snakes in Ireland. :)
DeleteI doubt if that will deter Patty
Delete:)
DeleteSounds like an addiction coming up!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm becoming addicted to writing stories about Irish folk. Not surprising since I'm half Irish and live in Ireland. :)
DeleteHow Batty is Patty? I think she is not as batty as makes out to be
ReplyDeleteNo, she's not as Batty as her nickname suggests. It's what happens to people who are outside the norm - they get classified by others. :)
DeleteI'm glad Patty is embracing technology!
ReplyDeleteI just hope it doesn't end in tears. :)
DeleteI'll watch out for her on eBay! Delightful tale, more please!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith - I'll try to oblige! :)
DeleteI love these stories and look forward to reading more about these fab characters.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Darlene - appreciate your feedback. :)
DeleteFun tale again, Susan
ReplyDeleteOne tries, CE, one tries.
DeleteYou wouldn't by any chance be Batty Patty, would you? Cashing in on the IRish Blarney :)
ReplyDeleteHe he - now that would be telling! :)
Deletethe internet can really widely one's horizon. :)
ReplyDeleteIt can indeed. I have a very elderly aunt who posts on facebook via her iPad. :)
DeleteBatty Patty is not so batty, after all... She's gonna make a killing!
ReplyDeleteYep, she's a smart cookie.
DeleteWhat would anyone have done without the internet, including Batty Patty.
ReplyDeleteIt seems hard to believe how we managed 30/40 years ago. No internet, no mobile phones... :)
DeleteModern magic indeed, as Jeff Bezos hides his sheepish grin. Good story. I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill. Appreciate the feedback. :)
DeleteWe're all learning to adapt. Good for her.
ReplyDeleteYes, lessons being learnt by everyone. :)
DeleteBatty Patty is adapting. Would her remedies? We shall see ... ;)
ReplyDeleteOnly time will tell. :)
DeleteBatty Patty sounds like an interesting character, and quite clever too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brenda. She might have to feature in future stories. :)
DeleteBefore you know it she is a valued seller on eBay, this internet magic is pretty powerful :-)
